Know not,
You, my friend,
of the fates that I speak?
Remember,
You must,
the threads of spiraling fate,
Betwixt,
The city,
and an unearthly wind,
A secret,
deep as the gorges,
Dost lie.
Lies, and waits,
Lies and truth,
Both together,
Lest the meaning separate.
For Death,
She waits,
behind a mask of horror,
Evade her,
She must,
Travel the spiraling fate,
Beside her,
A guide and friend,
An enemy and You.
Travel On,
O hidden traveler,
behind the shadows,
traverse her spiraling fate...

The Zephyr and the Storm
Odyssey into 2012
Chapter 8: The Zephyr and the Storm
Time is but the storm, my love, nothing more; but you—
you are the Zephyr, the wind that carries the storm.
The words still rang in her ears like so many church bells,
a clarion thunder announcing the birth of some false prophet.
After all this time, she couldn't possibly be the Zephyr—
but she was. She could feel it.
And if she let herself, she knew she would carry this storm
off the edge of the world, and then next year would never come—

The Edge of the World - Odyssey into 2012 Ch. 3
The static fades, leaving her standing on the edge of the world.
The clifftop stretches downward for what seems an eternity, endless miles of jagged grey stone that seem to culminate in a fiery light. Kaylin scrambles backward, heart pounding, knowing that she is inches from death. Despite her terror, something about her latest brush with death bothers her. She inches forward to glance over the edge again, and as she does so she dislodges part of the grey rock, revealing soft white chalk beneath.
And understanding comes crashing down.
It's Dover, England. But the sea is gone, boiled away into the abyss. The coastline looks as though a gian

In A Snowy Clearing
Darus was there.
The trees were stark and black around the tiny, snow filled clearing, and so was Darus, figure crooked and threatening. Yet Kaylin was unable to feel any alarm, for Zephyr hissed loudly in her mind, suffocating her emotions.
He watched her with a strange and tired smile.
"It seems that Zephyr has guided you to me, Kaylin."
She could not answer him. Zephyr buzzed, drowning her thoughts in static.
Darus seemed unconcerned by her lack of response, but the Blade, held loosely in his left hand, twitched. "....You left me, Kaylin. Did you forget that only you can completely shift Zephyr from Guardian to Guardian? Yet still- yo

His Message
My darling, please, there is no time to be scared,
for in the succeeding trials, you must come prepared.
You are a source of destruction,
yet the stars are on your side
and I of creation can no longer abide.
Now the clock is ticking so go on
run,run,run
for this story has just finally begun.

Destruction
Kaylin's lips twisted into a cruel snarl. She released her Zephyr, causing the train to come to a crashing halt. Stepping out of the Light Train, Kaylin looked around at the desolate wasteland.
The snow-packed tundra stretched for miles. She could see Darus in the distance, and gathering her Zephyr, concentrated it into a swirling storm and forced it onto him. Kaylin approached him as he staggered under the icy blast. Reaching up with her Zephyr, she tugged at the few stars that sparkled behind the heavy clouds. They fell around Darus, making hissing sounds as they burned holes in the frozen tundra. She heard his screams,

Odyssey into 2012 Chap6: Enlightenment
She was the destroyer and bringer of order, he the wielder of chaos and creation; she knew this now. What a pair, so suited to each other, and so at odds. Her fear was put away inside her mind, deep down in a dusty file no longer with a key. That was history. The moment was what counted. To destroy she had to live in the immediate instant but to save Tokyo she had to look to the future with hope. Such a contradiction raged inside her, confusing her emotions, twisting her insides, until...clarity.
Clear as the deepest cavern alighted with a star.
The Light train refracted forward through time once again.
Dimensions were flung out of proport

The Chamber of Time
Kaylin’s body came tumbling through a dark whispering gate where she heard the soft clustering of voices that slowly morphed into piercing screams. They cut through her mind like the pelting of the rain that was cutting harshly across her lip. The darkness was suddenly illuminated by the blinding strikes of lighting that dispersed with the grumbling quake of thunder in its wake. Kaylin had caught a glimpse of something she had never expected to stumble upon. Could it be?
The strike of lightening came once more and with anticipation, she curiously reached into the gloom and streamed the tendrils of her spirit through the light, allowing

The eighth gate is white mist. Kaylin slams open the door, Zephyr lurching inside her, and Darus, lizard-quick, slips inside.
"Get out," she hisses. She isn't afraid any more.
He sneers. "Don't be stupid, kitling. You left Tokyo through this gate, like always. Opening it restarts the process. It's an endless loop. Destroy the gate and finish it. I'm tired of fighting "
Murderer! Liar! Traitor!
Kaylin rips Zephyr through his mind. He slumps, white and shaking, and she draws out the truth. "You sealed the gates to weaken me, so I'd be easier to kill. But you had another plan in case I managed to open them. Destroying the final

Darkness cracked at lights touch
Coward away by a blurry facet of blotchy shades. A light so bright, it pushed the shadows away. Made them duck beneath tall columns and tan stone. Slowly revealed orange spokes that stretched overhead. Millions of archways that ran for miles. Leaving her breathless on a cold cement staircase.
The enigma of shadows and warm light yanked tightly at her stomach. Where thoughts should have been, there was nothing. She tried to focus. To remember. But still nothing came to her. Nothing but a quiet voice in the far back of her mind, urging her on.
She came to be in the middle of a long hallway, alone. Grip

It wasn't as if she was dead, but this feeling. She furrowed her brow and struggled to stand, she only fell back down. "Zephyr." She whispered weakly. "Whoever you are, please help." She closed her eyes and lay against the hard concrete she had been thrown upon. No new realization found her; no new feeling overtook her bones, or healed her wounds. She cursed and placed her palms on the ground, "Come on, Girl!" She shouted, pushing with all her strength. "Don't give out on me now." Her feet finally found the solid ground that her face had been pressed upon a moment ago and her vision suddenly un-blurred. She stared around at the desolate concr

The Dark, Unwanted Future
Sweven?

Seven?
Questions raged in Kaylin's mind even before her eyes opened. She sat up slowly and rubbed her arms, instantly cold. She sat in the middle of city ruins - a modern day city.
"What happened here?" She asked quietly to herself, almost shaking with horror.
The wind blew, sending her black hair to whip out behind her.
"You are in the future, Kaylin."
Kaylin whirled around and saw Darus, standing with his hands shoved deep into jean pockets. Smoke from a burning building rolled in and Kaylin had to force herself not to cough or she might suspect he was just an illusion and if she moved, or breathed, he would disappea

Odyssey Into 2012 - Chapter 3: The Clock Chimes
The train choked to a stop as the mild-mannered voice informed the passengers of their stop.
Kaylin woke up flabbergasted, plagued by the sensation of a burning cold. She looked around--Jackson was nowhere to be found. No blood, no fires, no chaos. Only placid faces of unfamiliar citizens. She looked down at the tattered book she was cradling on her lap. The letters, the events that he just showed her--all gone. She rummaged her pockets--both empty. A quick flash of events, both of the past and the present, shot inside her head. She flinched with the pain--it was one of the painful consequences of Time Mending.
Panicking, she rushe

Kaylin smiled. She had control over the light train now, not the other way around. True, her last excursion had given her answers, but to find the source of it all she needed to go more than a few weeks back.
The light train slowed to a halt and disappeared. Kaylin looked around. She was in a dark hallway, a single door, protected by a solitary guard, the only visible exit. Without warning, a hooded figure emerged from the shadows. Upon turning, the guard not only recognised the figure, but Kaylin recognised him. It was Jackson.
"Good evening, Lissa." He said quietly, moving to enter the room with her. She stopped him, however.
"I thought

Scenario 3,723
"3,722 scenarios. Of those, I only survive four. Of those four, I only defeat him in one," Kaylin said to herself as she drove the light train. The train's course had become erratic. In a split second it would change it's direction a thousand times.
She now knew that defeating Darus meant restarting the entire process over, fighting all the same battles again, risking the same odds to come out to this one scenario.
How many times had she fought these odds to get to this one end? She didn't know. She didn't care. She knew she always chose to fight so why should if matter how many times she fought?

Odessey Into 2012 Chapter 2: Just like old times
This isn't the Tokyo she remembers.
The hilltop view is chaos. Fires consume miles around, wind stirs the fumes, skyscrapers crumble. She gasps. Memories, however scattered, tell her this is wrong. They fixed this. Prevented this.
Hadn't they?
She'd made a deal once to forget all this, to move on. Was her mind clearing?
Behind her, a rustle. A man. Tall fit. Dressed simply, holding a tattered book.
"Who are you?" She steps back.
"I trained you. We were... partners. For a while..."
"...Jackson." She eyes the city. "Didn't we... fix this?"
"We did. We fixed everything, actually."
"What happened?"
"Darus."
"What?"

Labyrinth of Dreams - Midnight Odyssey
Another clumsy jump and a stumble with outstretched arms...... Kaylin was back on the train. "Light is faster than words" the book had said, and she swore it was being cynical. "But not thought!" she shot back. That should shut it up for awhile.
They said the Light Train waits for no-one, but it waited for him. Or as long as the speed of light can wait. But it was enough for Darus. And as soon as he stepped in she knew the threshold had been crossed. She was no longer safe. The traps were set. The game had begun.
Her mind was invaded. He brushed everything aside light as a wind,

The breeze brought the scent of pine needles to her before she got off the train. She touched the bark of a tree.
The breeze suddenly picked up. Her eyes did not widen in surprise this time-- they stayed solidly open as she saw a shadow form in front of her. She had time only to jump to the side before the tree whose bark she had touched was impaled by a sword-- his sword. The tree quivered, sighed, and then there was nothing where it once stood.
His eyes met hers.
She ran.
She knew how he fought. Everything about Darus-- the timbre of his voice, his unforgiving eyes, his majestic fighting style, his laugh-- everything came fl

The Light Train took on a new timbre around her. Her knowledge unlocked, she did not ride, but drive. The Train bent around to her command. She yelled in triumph! Backwards, to before it began. She could stop him at the start. Kaylin steered the Train, her body, soul, one with the Light. Then it fought her, bucking and twisting.
Her eyes opened. Kaylin wasn't alone. She was there. Kaylin, in purple. Kaylin, in green. Kaylin, in blue, yellow, orange, and violet. Each one steering, fighting. Yellow died first, a possible future snuffed out, and it's Light joined the Train. The others, alerted to the danger, fought back, but her Zephyr sang as

Kaylin struggled with doubt. The fear of what she had done set into her thoughts, piercing her with worry. She knew Darus would fight her at every turn, but she had fought off herself from different dimensions. She had absorbed their knowledge, turning it into her own strength.
Powers stronger than any she'd ever known now coursed through her. She knew that this was not Zephyr. She'd absorbed the powers of alternate dimensions. Notus, Boreas, and Eurus. These three powers had been added to hers, and it frightened her.
The light train struggled against her. Darus was trying to fight back. She concentrated her powers, all four, into the nex
